Alison Newman is a singer and songwriter from South Australia. She has been singing and performing since the age of 5 in various settings, from large choirs, vocal groups, fronting rock bands, acoustic ensembles, duos and as a soloist. She has forged a career as a successful covers artist in her local region of the Limestone Coast, South Australia, performing at local venues, weddings, corporate events and more.

In July 2019 Alison released her debut album Heart Songs, showcasing her ability to write relatable and engaging songs spanning different styles and creative directions. As the title of this release might imply, Heart Songs is a record with a personal, emotional twist. The track list features ten original studio tracks, each blurring the lines between different genres and influences.
​
Alison's next album Wolf will be out in March 2023. It is a 5 tracks deep dive in to Alison's personal experience with post natal depression. Already 2 of these tracks have received critical acclaim, the lead track Things are About to Get Dark, won the 2021 Exceptional Merit Award in the Rock/Indie Category of the Australian Songwriters Association. Alison has co written and performed on many tracks with Electronic music producers in Australia and the UAE, and has perfomed live with LT Balkin. She also arranges and records ambient music with her trio Alemjo.

During the Covid-19 lockdowns of 2021, Alison was inspired to create cover versions of some of her favourite songs. She wanted these covers to reflect her as an artist, and re imagine the songs as though seeing them through new, fresh eyes. Weekly releases of her 'circa aurora' project can be found here.
Alison stands out for the power. beautiful dynamics of her voice, and for her naturally expressive tone. She feels at home on delicate ballads, as well as within some of the most energetic songs, highlighting her versatility as a singer.

Alison was a Top 5 finalist in the 2019 and 2021 People's Choice Folk Artist of the year in the South Australian Music Awards.
